Our Experience

During its formative years, Ellis Corporate gained a reputation in the hospitality industry for the sales of city and country hotels, motels, caravan parks and liquor stores.

Since then, it has broadened its scope to encompass businesses in the Manufacturing, Wholesale, Service, Distribution, Construction, Retail and Master Franchising sectors. While the agency's Corporate Business Broking Division specialises in the sale of medium to large businesses, it also has achieved notable success in the marketing of well documented smaller businesses.

This has occurred because the Division maintains a database containing a large number of potential purchasers with many individual and diverse requirements.

Ellis Corporate's business broking team comprises six experienced members. Each has conducted businesses both locally and overseas, and all enjoy a sound financial know-how. They are all committed to keeping themselves well informed about the current trends in their various specialised markets, and have the skills needed to advise on all of the factors that can contribute to a successful business sale or purchase.

These skills include qualifying purchasers, helping eliminate problems that can adversely affect a business sale, assisting purchasers in securing finance, and creating advertising designed to achieve maximum exposure for each dollar spent.

David is a commerce graduate of UCT, majoring in Accounting, Business Administration and Marketing.

He has worked for one of the big four accounting firms both here and overseas, and has owned a number of businesses in his own right.

David has a wealth of knowledge and experience in real estate investment and development, commercial property management, and corporate business broking - involving medium to large enterprises.

Daniel Dawson

Daniel has a BA (Business Law) degree and is a lawyer with over 20 years experience dealing with publicly listed companies.  He has researched, invested in, and traded with many listed companies both in here and overseas.

Daniel has successfully operated an import business in Australia, and an export business in the UK.   He has previous experience as operations manager of a large West African trading company which owned and chartered cargo vessels.  Daniel adds expertise to those clients who wish to sell to or acquire business from listed companies.

Daniel has valuable experience in selling minority or majority shareholdings in private companies and can settle shareholder disputes.

Daniel has proven experience in selling both residential & commercial properties.

Richard's background includes company directorships of a major Queensland automotive dealership and a hospitality business.

Subsequently he spent ten years as a business broker in Canada consulting with buyers from Asia, Europe and North America.  Richard is skilled in buyer negotiations leading to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships with an emphasis on new owners looking to safely gain entry to their own businesses.

For the last ten years Richard has also specialised in the sale of medium sized manufacturing businesses, distributors, exporters, wholesalers and niche market retailers.

Peter Marinovich has spent 35 years in marketing in Australia and Africa. He entered the business broking field with Ellis Corporate some 10 years ago after a period in which he owned a marketing and a manufacturing business. The holder of a B.Comm degree in accounting and marketing, Peter has, over the years, successfully negotiated the sale of businesses in the mining, retail, wholesale, manufacturing and finance sectors as well as the services industry.

Peter is highly self-motivated, tenacious and innovative and, as a former immigrant, is well able to understand the needs of migrants. A second syndicate is headed by a buyer with a background in manufacturing (fiberglass, aluminium and plastic moulding). He is looking for an established Perth manufacturing business and would like the seller to remain in the business for at least 1 year (remunerated) to assist with the hand over.

An Albany based buyer is prepared to spend $2 to 3 million on a sound, profitable business anywhere in South-west WA.

A WA investor is interested in businesses with a high net profit. Businesses operating under management preferred but owner-run businesses will also be considered. He is mainly looking for manufacturing and service businesses but will also consider other opportunities including areas such as accommodation. Prepared to spend in the millions.

At the lower end of the market we have a qualified buyer looking for a North of the River business for his two sons. Will spend up to $500,000 for the right business.

Nick Benwell was a founding partner in a Perth business, manufacturing  and selling ladies shoes, factory direct, to over 10,000 customers.He sold the business after 30 years to a business migrant.

Before arriving in Perth he had acquired extensive experience in importing,trading and retailing  in Johannesburg as General Manager of a fashion importer, cosmetic manufacturing and retailing group, selling  fashion and international fragrances to major department stores.He also previously worked in London for an international finance group in marketing services in the hire purchase,leasing and commercial lending areas.

As a migrant himself he is fully aware of the challenges that present themselves when planning to move families to a new life in Australia and an unfamiliar business environment.

Nick was admitted to the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1976 and then to the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia in 1981.

Roz Baker has a background in hospitality sales and marketing and started her own business in 1980 specialising in property and business sales, as well as  executive rentals. By 1995 Roz had expanded and diversified the company to include renovations, property development projects and exports to America and UK. The business was sold when she migrated to Perth. W.A.

 Since 1997 Roz has gained further experience in property development and selling businesses of all types and sizes to migrants and investors in WA. From the owner operator business to farms and the multi  million turnover companies, all receive the same personal and analytical attention.

 Always interested in business mentoring, Roz gives inspirational talks to students about having control of their financial destiny in self employment, and volunteers assistance to anyone endeavouring to expand or diversify their business, using her own diverse business experience and network of contacts.

Mike Underwood is a Social Science Graduate of Curtin and a Fellow of FINSIA. Mike’s background is 18 years in banking (mostly lending to personal and small business clients) and then in 2002 made a career transition to the recruitment industry and has run his own boutique recruitment business for the last eight years.

Mike’s recruitment experience consists of successfully completing hundreds of assignments at all levels across the Financial Services, Health, Engineering, Resources and Industrial sectors. This has included playing a significant role in franchisee recruitment, over many years, and clients have included Mortgage Choice, BOQ and Mortgage Force (Smartline). Mike has also conducted search assignments targeting potential self-employed Financial Planners for a range of licensees which includes AMP/Charter, Sentry, Financial Wisdom, Elders and Morgans. Additionally he has assisted many candidates, contemplating a move to self-employment, to make sure it is the right move and they are well positioned for success in the business and industry of choice.
